Raga Asa inspires feelings of hope, spiritual devotion and peace. The Asa di var is entirely composed in Raga Asa and is sung in the early morning before dawn in the auspicious time of Amrit Vela.

For Sikhlens 2012, Kamajeet has specifically created paintings depicting Ragas from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj Ji, the Sikh Holy Book and Living Guru.

Sikh music (Shabad kirtan) comprises of divine poetry, Ragas (melodies) and Talas (rhythms), to create hymns that sing the praises of God. This tradition is said to have started in the 16th century by the first Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, whose devotional hymns composed in classical Ragas and Talas begin the Guru Granth Sahib.

Every Guru that followed after Guru Nanak Dev Ji created their hymns in the same manner and as a result of this the Guru Granth Sahib has a total 31 complete Ragas.
